Designed with safety in mind
All Marley products are designed and tested to work together as a complete roofing system. Built from a choice of many different parts, our roof system enables you to create bespoke specifications to match the specific needs of your project.
All of our components are fully compatible with each other and have been tested to ensure full integration and maximum performance. We are committed to providing the very best technical service and tools, whether through our online offering or through our dedicated technical team, helping deliver a bespoke roof system specification, with performance and durability designed-in.
What's more, if you are looking for specific guidance on working to the British Standards, we know our stuff. Covering BS 8612 for dry fix systems, BS 5534 for slating and tiling and BS 5250 for the control of condensation, we can offer technical guidance and expertise delivering tried and tested roofing solutions.
Fire protection
At the beginning of 2021, Marley launched the new Roof Defence product to help prevent the spread of fire in roofs.
Roof Defence is an intumescent roof fire barrier that is installed under tiles and between roofing battens to help prevent the spread of fire and smoke between adjoining properties in semi-detached and terraced houses.
It provides full fire protection from one roof to the next, achieving up to a 60 minute fire rating, and can also be used as a fire barrier in large roofs, or as a fire break in buildings such as schools, care homes and hospitals.
Safety in the workplace
At Marley, all of our manufacturing sites are independently certified to ISO 45001, the international standard for occupational health and safety management. In practice, this means we have a dedicated management programme that structures the planning and control for hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control. Ensuring all employees are aware of risks in their role and have a strong competence through training programmes.
Our dedicated Health & Safety team hold, as a minimum, NEBOSH ‘National General Certificates in Occupational Health’ and they are also trained, along with our production managers on the IOSH ‘Managing Safely’ courses.
Safety on site
If you need to get hands-on and install our systems, we provide comprehensive installation guidance along with support videos, to help you build with confidence. Our trained sales and technical teams can also provide guidance and support and we offer a full range of roofing training courses to support you in your continued development.
When it comes to safety, we also run our annual campaigns in both the summer and winter, to raise awareness and dangers of working at height and with the extremes of the weather.
We also ensure our external sales teams have attained the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) 'regular visitor' status, so they are fully aware of the risks and hazards when visiting customers.
