The Wheatsheaf

Clay Plain Tile

A building left derelict for a decade has been given a new lease of life as a restaurant.

All in the detail

The Wheatsheaf in Rettendon ceased trading in 2006, but has undergone an extensive renovation that features Clay tiles for the roofing.

The challenge was to restore and extend the ageing building, retaining many of the existing features.

38,000 tiles were used to create the beautiful clay roof, creating a heritage appearance that connects both the old and the new parts of the building.
