The Botanical Treehouse

Shingles

Built by Blue Forest in partnership with Randle Siddeley, the Botanical Treehouse showcases how Marley’s Cedar Shingles can be more than a lightweight and renewable material, but a way to celebrate nature's beauty.

All in the detail

The Botanical Treehouse, a stunning two-storey structure, captures attention and pleases the eye with its use of natural materials and innovative design. Exhibited at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the design showcases how Marley’s Cedar Shingles can be more than a lightweight, low carbon solution, but also a way to celebrate nature's beauty. Testament to this, the project has been awarded the Best Trade Stand Award by the RHS.

The Western Red Cedar Shingles play a crucial role in this project, offering a blend of aesthetic appeal and durability that complements the lush garden setting of the Chelsea Flower Show. Importantly, these shingles, along with all of Marley’s timber products, carry full chain of custody certification from the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), assuring that the timber used is sourced from sustainably managed forests and processed responsibly, reflecting Marley's commitment to environmental stewardship.

The Treehouse features an entertainment tower that offers a wonderful view of the Main Avenue. Integrated into the project is a whimsical downstairs children’s hangout, complete with swinging seats and a bright interior, which sits snuggly underneath the tower. All this is surrounded by the beautiful backdrop provided by the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, an event renowned for its celebration of horticultural excellence and outstanding design.

By using timber and other natural materials, the design instils a sense of calm, perfectly complementing the purpose of the structure: to help the guests unwind. Adding to this, the grand entertainment tower offers the chance for guests to relax and savour artisanal botanical cocktails (or mocktails) from the adjacent outdoor gin bar.
